Our May Crown Tournament will be back on the regular second Saturday which is the 13th. The event begins at 9am with archery at 31785 Yucaipa Blvd., Yucaipa. Once archery is completed will will move to Yucaipa Community Park with a nominal start time of 10:30am depending on how long archery takes.
Archery
May 3rd was Machiavelli's birthday back in 1469. While some of his ideas were quite good he is often look on with disfavour due to his pragmatic and somewhat, well, Machiavellian, suggestions. Archery will be based on the assassination of your political opponents, which is excused as long as you're the noble in power. We will do a tree style advancement with the targets being a set of outlines representing politicians. Half will be one color, half another. The archers pick a color and then attempt to shoot more of their opponent's color. Each round will be a flight of 6 arrows with ties resolved by increments of 2 additional arrows.

Arts
In addition to any individual arts projects being turned in, we will do a project on the staff sling. I have spare material for the sling pouch and string but I'm going to ask people to bring their own stick. Through my own testing, I would recommend at least 3/4 of a inch thickness as there is a lot of power and thinner staves can snap and at least 4 feet long. After construction, we can have a slinging contest.
I am also encouraging anybody who is going to Banner war to try and get an arts project together for the war. Arts points can win a war and this is our opportunity to represent Esperance. I will bring along materials related to various projects and will try to help anybody who needs it with getting a project together and doing documentation.
Lunch
In the interest of community building, we will get back to potluck lunches. Either myself or another poor soul will be posting to coordinate so we don't end up with 20 desserts.
