In the good and bountiful year of 2023 in the gloom dusted month of June the Archduchy of Esperance came together for our monthly tournament.

We began our day with archery. Our target was a copy of a painting by Peter Paul Rubens, a painter of some note and reluctant diplomat. While he died slightly outside our period, he was born in June of 1577. Less historic, but more in the vein of fun we included coin targets along the edges for a piratical motif. The parrot was shot numerous times with a shoot-off for first place where Don Antonio prevailed with a head shot and two body shots against Sir Logan's shot to the head.

After archery, we shifted over to the park for the balance of the event which began with a gong and proceeded to the judging of an arts project.
Sir Logan entered a pewter medallion and the judges entered into a lively discussion including some instruction for a potential new judge.
Dame Milisent worked on a non-judged embroidery project which involved detailed work for cuffs. Of some interest, we learned that when embroidering on linen it is apparently possible to count the holes in the weave of the fabric to keep everything in line. Mew also shared her work on a non-judged art, a pair of nalbinding needles made from antler.

For combat, we fielded 5 combatants for Rapier which was done as a round robin with 5 points for each fight. After some excellent fighting Sir Logan eeked out the win by one point with three people tied for third.
Sir Logan and Sir Cagar armored up for a brief bout of demo steel fighting which evolved into pictures and conversation with some fellow park visitors.
Closing court was held with the now standard gong, much levity, and good cheer.
